CIRCLE OF POLIDORO DA CARAVAGGIO (c.1497-c.1543): PROCESSION IN HONOR OF CYBELE FOR THE FACADE OF THE MILESI PALACE

Ink and wash on laid paper, with the collector's mark of G. Vallardi (Lugt 1223). 8 1/4 x 16 1/2 in. (sheet), 14 x 21 in. (frame).

Condition:A central vertical crease. Creasing. Several repaired tears (backed) at the sheet edges (largest 1 1/2 in.). Remains of old glue and tape along the reverse of the top sheet edge. The top right corner with a made-up loss. Taped to the overmat at three places at the reverse of the top sheet edge. A stain in the figure at left. Scattered foxing and staining.
