Pair of Unusual North European Neoclassical Brass-Mounted Ebony Inlaid Mahogany and Painted Armchairs

One chair with a Sotheby's label sale 8879 lot 169 and the other chair with Christie's tags 11-Dec-18, sale 16394, Lot 157.

36 x 42 1/2 x 23 in., height of seat 18 1/2 in.

Condition:

Both with minor age splits, old repairs, nicks and general wear. Both with losses to the brass molding on the back rests, and with later replacements and age splits. Minor age splits to the painted griffin arm supports, nicely carved. One chair with losses to the collars on the front legs. The other chair with old repairs on the acanthus carving on the back side of the armrests where they meet the back rest. Expected nicks to the legs. Structurally sound.
