Two Italian Carved Walnut Curule Chairs
The first upholstered in silk velvet, the second carved with caryatid back supports.
The first 36 x 25 x 19 in., height of seat 17 1/2 in.; the second 39 x 26 x 21 in., height of seat 16 1/2 in.
Provenance:The one on the right, Cowan's Auctions, Cincinnati, OH, January 12, 2008, Lot 138.
Condition:
The first with minor wear to the wood supports consistent with age and use. The upholstery very worn with heavy losses and tears, in need of replacement. Otherwise structurally sound. The second with wear to the finish and some losses overall. Otherwise structurally sound and in good condition.
